I continue the theme of reflections that complete otherwise plain buildings. Last year, I have created a a few such compositions that I may show in upcoming posts. Today's nearby reflection has been composed just around the corner from where we live. It shows a kind of glass bay that is attached to a nearby office building. More reflections of "completed buildings" are shown in the current reflection gallery.

Carcolors 42: Leutschentower distortions
The Leutschentower is a nearby building that I regularly visit on my photo bike rides. The colorful and patterned facade often creates attractive reflections and distortions on shiny cars. For example, the same building also gave rise to the carcolor composition 32.

Nearby: Upwards
This nearby composition goes along with the one from last week. The reflection again completes the composition and creates a new, symmetric whole. In this case, a boring light and shadow pattern is transformed into upward pointing angle brackets. This unspectacular wall is part of the PWC building, which has been featured in many nearby posts already.

Nearby: The greater whole
Another nearby composition as a counterweight to the many farthest away photographs from New Zealand. The subjects of this photograph are a rather boring building, an ordinary shadow, and a window pane. The result is, in my opinion, an interesting composition that is more than the sum of its parts. The reflection adds symmetry, geometry, and harmony to an otherwise ordinary scene. Reduplicated buildings like this one have almost become a separate theme of mine. Isn't it amazing how the reflection completes the composition as if it was the missing half of a greater whole?

February 2015 print: Moeraki boulder shell
Even though I am repeating myself and may therefore bore you, I have decided to print, and thus show again, several photographs from our New Zealand trip. The February 2015 print is the Moon-lit Moeraki boulder shell that is still the most preferred photograph of our trip (the knee is slowly getting better). Actually, after having printed this composition, I like it even better. Sometimes, or rather most of the time, it is worthwhile revisiting a photograph that was developed earlier. In this particular case, I realized that adjusting the white balance much improved the composition - at least in my opinion.
I hope you do not mind the repetition. For me, the monthly print posts are necessary to encourage me to keep printing at least one photograph a month.

Carcolors continuation - yellow windscreens
In 2013, I have been pursuing my carcolors theme enthusiastically. The more I delved into this topic, the more fascinatingly distorted reflections I discovered on the shiny bodies of cars. Becoming aware and conscious of these motives opened an entirely new and unique look at cars. However, it reached a point where I perceived my environment almost exclusively through carcolor reflections. It became like an obsession and I thus imposed a carcolor break on myself in 2014. Last year, I have thus hardly created any carcolor photograph at all (there were a few relapses), but the year of carcolor abstinence proofed that I really enjoy and miss discovering my surrounding through carcolor reflections. I am thus happy to recommence creating and showing carcolors. The yellow windscreen carcolor composition shown here has been created recently, at a nearby building, where I have already found an interesting carcolor reflection earlier.
